Qualifying with the LPC and using qualifying work experience and SQE2 pathway

You can only qualify through this route if you meet our transitional requirements. If you do not meet these, you will need to qualify under the SQE.

Alongside having a qualifying law degree and the Legal Practice Course, here are the steps you need to take before applying for admission as a solicitor of England and Wales.

Create your mySRA account – do this first

  • Create a mySRA account – this is where you will tell us you want to use qualifying work experience and SQE2 as an equivalent and apply for admission. Find out how to create an account.

Tell us you want to use the equivalence – do this second

Create your SQE assessment account

  • Create an SQE assessment account to book your SQE2 exams and get your results. Find out how.
  • Please make sure the names match exactly with your mySRA account.

Retrieve SQE assessment results – when you have passed SQE2

  • You'll need to retrieve your results in mySRA once you have passed the SQE2 assessment. Log into mySRA, and in 'Start a new application' you'll find the ‘Retrieve your SQE results’ application.

Register your qualifying work experience – anytime

Background checks and suitability – just before applying for admission

  • We check your suitability when you are applying for admission. You can also speak to us early if you have any potential concerns.
  • You will need to do a background check/screening. Once complete, you are ready to apply for admission. Find out how to apply for screening.
