Warning: Letter misusing the names of Mohammed Zakee Mushtaq and Mushtaq Legal Services Ltd

A letter has been sent misusing the names of Mohammed Zakee Mushtaq and Mushtaq Legal Services Ltd.
What is the scam?
The SRA has been advised that a letter has been sent to an energy company misusing the name and contact details of a genuine solicitor and a genuine firm of solicitors (see below).
The letter seen by the SRA confirms that a change of tenancy has occurred and had been sent to an energy company as proof' The letter provided the email address of 'm.zakeemushtaq@gmail.com’ and the telephone number of '0870 949 3617'.
The letter also includes the SRA number and head office address of the genuine firm (see below).
Any business or transaction through the above email address or telephone number is not undertaken by a firm or solicitor authorised and regulated by the SRA.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called Mushtaq Legal Services Ltd (SRA number 8008529). Its head office address is 412 High Street, Smethwick, B66 3PJ.
The SRA also authorises and regulates a genuine solicitor called Mohammed Zakee Mushtaq (SRA number 646632) who is a solicitor at the genuine firm.
The genuine firm Mushtaq Legal Services Ltd has confirmed that neither it nor Mohammed Zakee Mushtaq have any connection to the letter referred to above.
What should I do?
When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
