Warning: Letter misusing the name of Travers Smith LLP

A letter has been sent to a member of public misusing the name of the genuine law firm Travers Smith LLP.
What is the scam?
The SRA has been made aware that a member of public overseas received a letter in French on Travers Smith LLP letterheaded paper allegedly on behalf of a creditors company Foris DAX MT Limited (crypto.com).
The letter requests the member of public to pay €15,000 for them to unblock funds on behalf of the recipient along with providing a deadline by which this amount would need to be transferred.
The letter also misuses the genuine telephone number and address of the genuine firm (see below)
Any business or transaction through the email address Foris DAX MT Limited (crypto.com) is not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
The SRA authorises and regulates a firm of solicitors called Travers Smith LLP. The Head Office is at 10 Snow Hill London EC1A 2AL. The genuine telephone number is 0207 295 3000.
The genuine Travers Smith LLP has confirmed that it has no connection to the emails referred to in the above alert.
What should I do?
When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
