Emails and documents sent from 'Harrison Murphy' purporting to be from a law firm 'Haighs Law' in relation to the recovery of funds.
What is the scam?
Emails and documents have been sent to a member of the public based overseas in relation to the recovery funds previously lost in a scam.
From the emails and documents seen by the SRA, the sender claimed the recipient had requested a free legal consultation from 'Haighs Law' and requested the recipient contact them to discuss further. In further interactions by email, the recipient was requested to provide identification and enter into a legal agreement bearing the company registration number for Haighs Law Firm Limited.
The emails received by the recipient were sent from the email address: harrisonmurphy@haighslaw.com and the following telephone numbers were also provided: +44 734 772 9939, +44 (74) 664-93624, +33 6058 29 314 and +41 77 98 87 434.
The website address https://haighslaw.com/about is also included in the email with the address 47 Badenerstrasse, 8004 Zurich.
The email also quotes a genuine firm's SRA number: 635589
The SRA does not authorise or regulate a solicitor called 'Harrison Murphy' or a firm called 'Haighs Law'.
Any business or transaction through the email address, telephone numbers or website address listed above are not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.

What should I do?
When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
